Time to pour one out for MTV…
The VMAs were without a doubt the talk of the town in Hollywood on Monday, but the same can’t be said for the rest of the country.
That’s because numbers just came in for the annual music video awards show… and it turns out people DO NOT enjoy sitting through 3-hour events without a host to guide them along.

In fact, Viacom pulled in over THREE MILLION fewer viewers across its family of networks on Sunday night than it did when Miley Cyrus hosted back in 2015!
If they complained about her numbers last year with 9.8 million viewers, they’re not gonna be happy about the measly 6.5 million people they managed to attract this time around. And that was on an 11-channel simulcast!
With that said, we don’t think this has to do with star power or content as much as it does the current state of television… but still, not a great a sign.
